My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic was an upcoming fan-made fighting game inspired by the animated television series My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. [1] [2] It was under development by a team of nine volunteers who call themselves Mane6.

What in the world makes anyone think this version is going to get off the ground when the last one had it's wings clipped before it got anywhere near take-off? You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect Hasbro to let this go. Seriously, I don't know what people should be expecting here.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect Hasbro to let this go. From what I understand, this is a heavily modified version of a beta build that was released to the public prior to the C&D, essentially making this an unofficial 'finished' version. As such, the cat's pretty much out of the bag. There really isn't much Hasbro can do at this point except try to shut down the links and maybe go after the uploader. Even if they try, they won't succeed taking it off the internet completely, not as long as people torrent the file. I suspected something like this would happen.

The game gained a rabid following during development, and the reaction to its cancellation was one of the biggest shitstorms I've ever seen in the brony fandom (and after witnessing dramas like Twilicorn and Equestria Girls, that says a lot). I couldn't get excited about it though, as I'm absolutely terrible at fighting games. Even as a fan of the show, this project has lost my interest. The C&D was the best thing to happen to the Mane6 developers as it allowed them access to a far better project. To see this revived is not only going to create drama within the community, it is going to create more hassle to a now very official developer(Mane6). I find the name quite odd,'Tribute Edition?' Its not a tribute to Hasbro as they are going to look for legal ramifications.

Not a tribute to Mane 6 as they whoever modded this stole their assets and put them under legal risk. Not a tribute to bronies as it would of been better off to make something original instead of reviving this. Should of just been honest and called 'The Piracy Edition' and call it a day. Hasbro got to keep their legal rights to the property, the actual makers of the game got to stay out of trouble, and everybody gets to play it. Maybe I'm just naive, but I'm failing to see who loses in this instance? The problem comes with the fact that 90% of Mane6 assets are being used here which Hasbro has layed a C&D on.

While this won't affect the consumers in anyway, Mane6 is now going to have to prove to Hasbro that they had no involvement with it. It may not seem like much but now that they are an official developer instead of a fan group, they are much easier to take legal action against. I would hate to see resources being used to have to to deal with this than towards their much better new project. Even as a fan of the show, this project has lost my interest.

A tribute the Mane6 of old before they yielded to said censorship. A tribute to bronies with an interest in pony-based things as opposed to generic 'original' fighting games. Why should any brony care about what Mae6 is doing with their time now that they are not in the fandom? (assuming that it wasn't *them* who finished the game, which is unlikely in the first place).
